Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center

Cultural Center Exterior Descriptive Transcript

The Elson S Floyd Cultural Center exterior includes large panels of window, curving with the building, and beams undulating from the roof. Double doors set into the wall of windows along the west side of the cultural center opens onto a concrete patio. Straight across from the double doors is a wooden ramp leading to the meditation pavilion, which is a small, round building constructed out of metal panels. Road and businesses are visible below the meditation pavilion. Facing away from the building, toward the meditation pavilion, there are metal fire pits to the right with a concrete bench and large boulders for seating. Beyond the fire pit is a large pine tree. To the left, there is a patio, connected to a different set of double doors, with tables and chairs. There is a short, stone wall separating the patio from the side of the hill. The road and entrance to campus are beyond the wall.
